See what level your soccer environment feeds into

League level, exposure, and competition shape recruiting outcomes more than most families realize. The Compare Skills pathway guide shows how each youth soccer environment typically translates into college placement. Explore the full guide below.

How this feature works

01
Pick your league tier
MLS NEXT, ECNL, Girls Academy, regional leagues, high school, or rec — choose the environment that matches where you play right now.
02
See the placement shape
Every tier shows an estimated share of its players landing in NCAA D1, D2, D3, and NAIA / JUCO / other, drawn from InterEd's directional recruiting model.
03
Read the tier notes
League examples and short notes explain why a tier lands where it does, including real commitment data behind the top levels.
04
Target the right schools
Use the range to set realistic expectations, focus outreach on the right level, and remember development keeps moving the picture.
Explore the pathway guide
Try it now: this is the full Men's Soccer pathway guide. Pick any youth league tier and the placement estimates, league examples, and notes update, exactly as they do for members.
Important: These are directional estimates, not guarantees
Placement outcomes depend on the individual player, club, position, development, academics, exposure strategy, recruiting communication, and overall fit. This tool is meant to provide context — not promise results.

Notes
  • In one dataset of 105 Northeast men's D1 commitments, 51.4% came from MLS NEXT and 21.9% from ECNL, with 17.1% international.
  • A later Northeast sample of 2026 D1 commitments showed roughly 70% MLS NEXT and 26% ECNL.
  • MLS academies are the clearest boys pathway to pro environments and top-end NCAA opportunities.

How Should Players and Parents Use This?

This is meant to help families get realistic direction. It is not a final verdict on a player. The goal is to make smarter recruiting decisions and use time and money more efficiently.

Set realistic expectations
This helps frame what kind of recruiting environment is most likely based on your current league platform and exposure level.
Target the right schools
The opportunity cost of targeting the wrong level is huge. Better targeting means better use of time, money, and effort.
Improve your strategy
Players below the top tiers can still get recruited very well, but they usually need to be more intentional with outreach, camps, and coach communication.
Remember that development changes things
Players move. Clubs change. Roles change. Exposure changes. This should be treated as a current snapshot, not a permanent label.

Quick Read on the Current Selected Tier

MLS NEXT – Top Academy Level generally produces the strongest outcomes into 25%–35% D1, 10%–15% D2, and 15%–20% D3 based on the directional model provided here. That does not mean every player in that environment lands there — just that this is the general recruiting shape of the tier.
